Dicker backs players to respond

8 March 2024

Crewe Alexandra will aim to demonstrate their strong mentality and make it seven consecutive away games without loss on Saturday.

That’s according to Assistant Manager Ryan Dicker, who has backed the players to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Morecambe.

Dicker said: “The message since the start of the season has been that we are going to lose games of football – that’s just the way it is - but the key thing is how we respond to defeats.

“We’ve done that well all season and we'll be trying to respond well again at the weekend.

“Our away performances have been good. We’ve had to show both sides of our game.”

Dicker and boss Lee Bell travelled to Bradford City in midweek, to run the rule over Doncaster. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning Grant McCann’s men have only lost one in seven.

Dicker added: “They played a tough team in difficult conditions and came away a point. Doncaster have been on a good run of form and have real threat at the top end of the pitch.

“We know it will be a difficult challenge but, in the end, it’s always about us. Yes, they have threats, but we also know where we can expose them.”
