2 May 2024

Conor Thomas said he is delighted to stay on an ‘upward trajectory’ with Crewe Alexandra, after signing a new two-year contract.

The midfielder put pen-to-paper on a deal that will keep him at Mornflake Stadium until summer 2026 yesterday (Wednesday).

Now he looking forward to a future that he believes is very promising.

Thomas said: “I’m really pleased to sign and extend my stay.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here - especially this season. We are on an upward trajectory and I’m glad to be a part of it.

“There are a lot of factors that go into being happy on and off the pitch. My missus is happy and we are settled in the area; we know a lot of people now and there is a good feeling around the place.

“Hopefully we can maintain the momentum. We have a good group and the staff have been brilliant, and hopefully we can get some reward at the end of this season.”

Thomas, 30, joined the Alex in summer 2022 and has made 78 appearances for the Club.

The former Coventry and Cheltenham man has been sidelined by a hamstring injury since the end of March, and is in a race against time to be available for next week’s two-legged Play-Off Semi Final against Doncaster Rovers.

He added: “It’s been tough, no footballer enjoys being in the physio room. I’m getting there, I’m not too far away.

“Whether the first leg on Monday will be too soon or not, I’m not sure. It’s fingers crossed to be honest.

“Either way, me and the other older lads will be helping the younger ones in any way possible. We’ve experienced these things and it is part of learning and being on a footballer’s journey.”
