Artell: "If We Are Close Enough, We Can Put A Run Together"

Boss aiming to keep in touch with pack to mount second half of the season play-off push

Crewe Alexandra Manager David Artell has not given up on a play-off promotion push this season - quite the opposite in fact.

The Alex boss knows his side finish a season strongly, so is targeting results over this winter period to keep the team in touch with the pack after two wins in the last three games.

Artell said: “I think if we are somewhere from the top to 13th-14th by the end of January, we have a chance.

“You only have to look at last season, in the last 15 games of the season we were third in the form table, but because we started so far behind points-wise it was too late.

“If we are close enough we can put a run together.

“Our performances have been acceptable, it’s the results which have been disappointing.

“But if we keep playing how we have been playing lately it’s only a matter of time.

“You can go from 15th to sixth in a short period of time and that’s what it’s got to be.”
