Crewe Alexandra’s victory over Sutton was key to banishing the hurt of a ‘missed opportunity’, according to Lee Bell.

The Manager admitted his players had been ‘hit hard’ by the 3-2 loss to Morecambe – a game they led 2-0 heading into the closing stages – at the start of this month.

The Railwaymen went down 2-0 at Doncaster after that, but he believes the 1-0 midweek success over Sutton has got them back on track.

Bell said: “I feel the Morecambe game hit them hard but we are over that missed opportunity now.

“It hadn’t really happened before, losing a game we’d been winning 2-0, and it was a new experience for some of them.

“It took them a while to get over it, and that’s why Tuesday was all about the win, however we got it. If we’d have put 60,000 passes together, 1-0 is still just three points. 

“I can only speak for myself – and I am excited about what lies ahead in the remaining nine games. No match is easy but we move forward with renewed confidence.”
