Stalwart Laura Garner leaves the Club

13 March 2024

Crewe Alexandra Women's midfielder Laura Garner has left the club with immediate effect.

Having joined the Alex in 2015, Garner helped the Club to win the North West Regional League and gain promotion to the FA Women's National League in her first season.

The number eight also played a pivotal role in winning three consecutive Cheshire FA County Cups in 2016,17 and 18.

Laura Left Crewe in March 2019 to sign for FC United Of Manchester, who were the league leaders at the time, but returned to The Alex the following season.

A calm and classy player in the middle of the park, Garner's passing ability made the team tick as well as topping the scoring charts regularly.

The midfielder, who has become known for regularly claiming the goal of the season award, has decided now is the right time to step away from the club, but is keen to stress that she hasn't made any long term decisions on her future in football.

Last season, Laura won the PFA Community Champion Award for her support in the community and particularly girls in grassroots football.

Laura Garner departs having made eight league starts scoring one goal this season.

The Crewe legend had this to say: "I wish all the girls the best of luck for the rest of the season and beyond.

"I have made so many friends and memories along the way. It has been a pleasure to play along side you all."
