Crewe Alexandra shared a 0-0 draw with the Priestfields outfit, after what was a hard-fought and physical affair.
While the Manager had targeted a maximum return, he felt that a draw was a fair outcome.
Bell said: “We were worthy of a point and I think both Managers would say that was about right.
“It’s a pleasing point on a windy day and on a tough pitch - we showed good professionalism and application.
“When you are playing teams around you, you expect the games to be tight. Gillingham are in the Play-Offs and they are a good team. It’s a notoriously tough place to come for Crewe teams in the past, so I’m delighted.
“Now we have to make sure it is a good point when Monday’s game against Forest Green comes around. There are goals in this team; we’ve shown that and it’ll come back.”
The Alex slipped to sixth in League Two after Friday’s results, but maintained a six-point buffer from Gillingham who have also played one game more.
