  • Railwaymen ease into final four
  • Leigh, Moore and Holicek on target
  • Striker Evans bags a super brace

Crewe Alexandra booked a place in the Cheshire Senior Cup Semi-Finals with an impressive win at Macclesfield on Tuesday.

Connor Evans fired a first-half double and Preston loan man Lewis Leigh, Matus Holicek and Luca Moore were also on the mark.

Cynan Douglas and Nathan Beca bagged what proved to be consolation goals for the hosts.

Crewe will visit Congleton Town in the final-four clash, at a date yet to be confirmed.

Ryan Cooney captained an Alex side that featured the likes of keeper Harvey Davies and midfielder Charlie Colkett.

And the game was just three minutes old when Evans arrived onto a teasing Lucas Sant cross to guide a header home.

Evans raced on to a super long ball from Colkett and volleyed home his second of the night, but Macclesfield halved the deficit on 35 minutes when Douglas carved through the defence and finished low past Davies.

Holicek restored the two-goal lead when he drilled home in first-half stoppage time.

Leigh blasted Crewe's fourth in off the bar soon after the restart, and the midfielder teed up the fifth for Moore with a clever pass.

Beca's towering header got Town on the scoresheet again but there was no sign of a genuine comeback.

Crewe (4-3-3): Davies, Dancey, Robinson, Cooney (Collins), Sant (Perry), Colkett (Nolan), Leigh (Jatta), Holicek (Moore), Agius, Evans, Allport.
