Injury Update|Long, Williams, Tabiner, Colkett, Holicek & Finney

12 January 2024

Lee Bell is confident that Christopher Long will be fit to play against Swindon Town tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

The striker, who has fired nine goals this season, hobbled off after 51 minutes of the win over Mansfield Town last weekend.

But the Manager said it was withdrawn due to stiffness and he should be ready to take to the field at Mornflake Stadium.

Bell also provided updates on Zac Williams (ankle), Joel Tabiner (ankle), Charlie Colkett (hamstring), Matus Holicek (groin) and Charlie Finney (calves).

He said: “I think missing some games caught up with Longy and he stiffened up, but he looks as though he will be fine.

“Zac is feeling really good. He has to see a specialist before we can put a timescale on his return but he is confident and wants to be back out there. We are hopeful he won’t be out for as long as we feared.

“We have got Joel’s scan (results) back and there are good signs of healing. He had a previous hairline fracture in his ankle and he’s played through that at some point.

“That’s been picked up on the scan and (the bone) had started to come away, but there are good signs now. Hopefully, we will be able to get him on the pitch in the first couple of weeks of February.

“With Charlie Finney, we hope he can do some light running next week - which is way ahead of schedule. In four weeks we hope his load will be up to somewhere near to where it needs to be.

"Matus is expected to rejoin the group on Monday, with a view to potentially having some involvement the following weekend.

“Charlie Colkett will return to the group today (Thursday) so that’s another positive. We just have to be careful with him to make sure we can get as many minutes on the pitch as possible.”
