Lee Bell says work to add to the signing of Lewis Leigh continues apace at Crewe Alexandra.

The Manager is delighted at making the 20-year-old Preston midfielder his first capture of the January window, earlier this week.

And he said there are ‘plenty of irons in the fire’ as the backroom staff look to bolster the squad further.

Bell said: “Lewis is a good player who can play off both feet. He handles the ball well and he wants to get around the pitch.

“The character of the people we bring in is really important because we have a brilliant dressing room and we need to maintain that. He has a lovely personality and he is a confident young man.

“We are pleased to have got that done - he couldn’t wait to get here to get started.”

He added: “We are still talking to players and clubs, but a lot of it is waiting for feedback from the clubs.

“You put a presentation forward and explain your offer, and then you see what happens. We have plenty of irons in the fire.”
