Turns targets a haul at Hatters

12 February 2024

Ed Turns is targeting three points at Stockport County after earning his first win in a Crewe Alexandra shirt at the weekend.

The defender, on loan from Brighton, has helped The Railwaymen to back-to-back clean sheets in his first two games for the Club.

And his man-of-the-match display against Crawley Town was key to a 1-0 victory that lifted Crewe into the automatic promotion places.

Now the squad are preparing to travel to face League Two leaders Stockport tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

Turns said: “It was a very good day at the office (against Crawley).

“A clean sheet and three points – you can’t ask for any more. I thought we controlled the game. We could have scored more goals but the main thing is the three points.

“Being in the automatic places gives you confidence but we know Stockport are top of the league for a reason.

“It’ll be a tough game but we will go there and give it a right good go. We have good players and the gaffer knows what we need to do to beat them, so we will give it everything. There’s no reason we can’t get three points.”

Turns has settled in quickly after making the Deadline Day switch to Mornflake Stadium, and made a very positive impression with his performances.

The centre half added: “It’s been brilliant. The lads are great and the staff are great, and that makes it a lot easier when you are so far up north away from home. It helps you settle in a lot quicker.

“The lads told me the fans are great and I could see that in my first home game, they really got behind us.

“I wasn’t sure what the gaffer’s preferred system was but I’m easy - I can play in a three or a four. I’ll just do what I’m told and try to get a clean sheet and three points each time; that’s the main thing.”
