13 February 2024

Crewe Alexandra will travel to league leaders Stockport County hoping to cement their position in the automatic promotion places.

Lee Bell’s men will look to build on Saturday's home win over Crawley Town and make it four unbeaten on the road.

The Opposition

Big-spending Stockport County sit top of League Two. The Hatters have been at the summit for much of the season, having enjoyed a 12-game winning run at one point.

They have lost just two games at Edgeley Park this season and will be confident of justifying the bookmakers' predictions that they will be promoted this term.

The Gaffer

Dave Challinor took the reins at Edgeley Park in November 2021 and quickly guided Stockport back to the EFL for the first time in over a decade.

He started with Welsh side Colwyn Bay in 2010, had eight seasons with AFC Fylde, and two years with Hartlepool United, before returning to Stockport where he was a player.

Challinor won Manager-of-the-Month awards in September and October.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: "The game is something for the whole club to look forward to – we have merited being in these types of games because of how well the players have performed."

Dave Challinor: "Two teams that are in a good situation. I have watched them a lot of last week. It is a big opportunity and I know we can’t affect the teams around us unless we play against them, and we do on Tuesday."

Head-to-Head

Crewe have won 51 games against Stockport, while County have emerged victorious 62 times. The other 30 clashes have ended in draws.

Stockport won the reverse fixture at Mornflake Stadium 2-0 with Kyle Wootton and Issac Olaofe getting the goals for visitors that day.

Match Officials

Neil Hair will be the man in the middle for tonight’s clash. Danny Jarvis and Ravel Cheosiaua will be his assistants while Richard Eley will be the fourth official.

Hair has handed out 59 yellow cards and two red cards in the 15 games he has taken charge of this season.
