Dicker: ‘Focus quickly on task ahead’

15 February 2024

Crewe Alexandra coaching staff were already focusing on Saturday’s clash with Harrogate Town when the team bus pulled away from Edgeley Park in midweek.

That’s according to Assistant Manager Ryan Dicker, who says the superb victory over league leaders Stockport County was quickly put to the back of their minds.

It was the Alex’s fifth consecutive away game without loss, which has also included wins at Barrow and Mansfield.

But Dicker said: “In truth, we take the three points and move onto the next game.

“It was a terrific night for the fans and the players at Stockport but on the bus home – yes, we enjoyed the moment - but our focus turned to Harrogate.

“It has to be that way. We have to move quickly on and look at what’s coming up next. It’s one game at a time, regardless of the opponents. We have to concentrate on what the upcoming task is.”

Goals from Mickey Demetriou, Ed Turns and Josh Austerfield earned the three points at Stockport, to strengthen the Alex’s place in the automatic promotion spots.

This weekend, Lee Bell’s men will attempt to complete a league double over Harrogate after a Zac Williams header earned victory at the EnviroVent Stadium in October.
