Williams feeling fitter and stronger

8 April 2024

Zac Williams says he feels fit and strong after a frustrating spell of injuries.

The homegrown defender missed the first two months of 2024 due to ankle injuries but has now put a little run of appearances together.

On Saturday, he helped The Railwaymen to a clean sheet at Accrington Stanley.

Williams said: “I’m glad to be back in the team and helping the lads. Fitness-wise, I feel really good and I have got quicker and stronger. I need to keep progressing.

“Centre-back is my main position and with Mickey (Demetriou) next to me, it’s really good. He has a lot of experience.

“It was a tough game (at Accrington) but the lads responded well and we have to take that into Tuesday at Morecambe.”

Crewe will travel to Morecambe without high expectations of getting any of the 10 injured first-teamers back in action.

Williams added: “Even if we are low on players, we still have spirit and togetherness. We know we are going to have to put a shift in and play a lot of minutes and the lads are ready for that.

“Morecambe are a tough team but we will give it everything.”
