Boss delighted for players after Shrimps success

10 April 2024

Lee Bell said he was delighted for his players after the 1-0 win at Morecambe.

The Railwaymen had gone five games without a win but Elliott  Nevitt’s 17th of the season earned a vital three points at Mazuma Stadium.

It lifted Crewe to fifth in League Two and provided an eight-point cushion in the Play-Off positions.

Manager Bell said: “It was a really good win and I’m delighted for the players. They have worked their socks off.

“It was very windy and not easy to play football, but all I was bothered about was picking up three points and we got them. We had to keep our shape and discipline and Nev has come up trumps in the end.

“Clean sheets are coming at the right time and they are especially important away from home. Credit to the back players, they stood up to everything and made sensible decisions in these conditions.”

The boss reserved special praise for the 464 supporters who made the trip on a cold and blustery evening.

Bell added: “The fans were brilliant and I thank them so much. They were singing throughout the game and at the end the scenes with the players were great.

“They have supported us and drove us on, and I think they can see how hard we are working to push the club in the right direction.”
