Baker-Richardson lauds Alex firepower

11 September 2023

Courtney Baker-Richardson believes Crewe Alexandra are becoming a striking force to be reckoned with.

The Number 9 has scored three goals in three league starts so far this season, after bagging a brace in the 4-1 victory at Forest Green.

Fellow forwards Christopher Long and Elliott Nevitt have also scored three apiece, and Shilow Tracey and Aaron Rowe have impressed too.

Baker-Richardson said: “If you look at the firing power we have in the squad; everyone is chipping in and there is good quality.

“Our firepower is dangerous. I’m buzzing that Nev has got some goals because he works so hard, and Longy has put so much graft in and he’s in and amongst it too.

“I found it hard at the back end of last season because I was coming back from injury, but now everyone is firing.”

Crewe trailed 1-0 at the break at The New Lawn but roared back to win it in fine style.

Baker-Richardson added: “If we concede a goal we have the belief we can still win the game. To come back from a goal down away from home shows big character from the lads.

"We never counted ourselves out and went after it with ambition. To score four goals and do it in the fashion we did is massive. We didn’t quit and we showcased what we can do.”
