Tracey: ‘Hopefully the goals will flow now’

2 October 2023

Shilow Tracey has set his sights on a scoring streak after opening his Crewe Alexandra account.

The pacy forward, who has impressed since joining the club in the summer, scored his first goal in the 3-3 draw at Wrexham at the weekend.

Now the 25-year-old former Spurs youth wants to quickly add more to his tally, with tomorrow’s visit of Gillingham his next chance to score (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

Tracey said: “If I don’t score, I always try to help my teammates get on the scoresheet, but I’m delighted to get my first goal – hopefully many more can come now.

“The boss had put in in the number 10 role just after the hour mark so I could get in and around the box, and I got my goal from that. It was a great assist from Rio(Adebisi).”

Tracey, who also has three assists to his name, believes The Railwaymen are capable of competing with anyone this season.

And he is relishing the challenge of facing fourth-placed Gills at Mornflake Stadium.

He added: “We can compete with big teams - we just need to believe in ourselves a bit more.

“We are all good players and hopefully we can get three points on Tuesday. It’s a big game for us, we have to play our good football at home and keep our momentum running.

“I think the season has been going well overall – we haven’t been losing games which is a big positive. We need another good month and to keep going.”
