Christopher Long is expected to be available for Saturday’s trip to Salford City despite suffering a gash to his foot in midweek.

The striker, who is leading the club’s scoring stakes with six so far this term, did not reappear for the second half of the 2-0 win over Gillingham.

But Lee Bell is hopeful he will be available.

He said: “Chris whacked the bottom of somebody’s foot and it opened up a gash on his foot; he had to have some glue put in it.

“It looks as though he will be all right so we will just manage it up until Saturday.”

Meanwhile, the boss provided updates on midfielders Conor Thomas (calf) and Charlie Colkett, who is yet to feature this season after picking up a hamstring injury in late July.

Bell added: “Conor will be out running by the end of this week and we are pleased with the way things are going. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will get him back.

“Charlie is fit for selection and is working hard; he’s played in a couple of Under-23 games. But like everybody else, he will have to work hard to get in the squad because we are doing well.”
