Thomas: ‘We can feel fans’ support’

4 November 2023

Crewe Alexandra supporters will be important to hopes of a cup upset against Derby County tomorrow (Sunday, 2.45pm).

That’s according to Conor Thomas, who says the connection between players and fans has been strong this season.

The midfielder was full of praise for the backing the team has received and feels it will be vital again when The Rams come to Mornflake Stadium for the FA Cup first round tie.

Thomas said: “It’s a good game for the club and the fans – the fans have been brilliant with us this season.

“As players, we have been able to feel them with us – home and away they have been really good.

“It makes a difference so hopefully we can keep putting on performances and getting results which will keep them onside. There should be a good atmosphere for this game.”

Thomas, who is available for selection after a spell on the sidelines with a calf injury, is looking forward to the challenge against League One Derby.

He added: “Sunday is a big game against a big club from a higher division.

“Derby will have good players who are strong and powerful so we have to combat that and also showcase what we can do.

“We want to test ourselves and hopefully we can show what’s been going on here because there have been a lot of pleasing things this season.”
