Matchday Guide | Derby (A)

14 November 2023

Crewe Alexandra will try again to book their place in the second round of the FA Cup when they travel to Derby County tonight (Tuesday, 7.45).

Lee Bell’s side drew 2-2 with the Rams at Mornflake Stadium and will again go toe-to-toe with the League One side at Pride Park for the right to host Bristol Rovers in the next stage.

The Opposition

Derby sit just outside the Play-Off places in League One and are unbeaten at home in their last six league games - winning four of those games.

The Rams, a huge club with even bigger expectations of escaping the third tier swiftly, hammered Barnsley 3-0 at the weekend.

The Gaffer

Paul Warne took charge of Derby in September 2022 after switching from Rotherham, where he had been gaffer for six years and won three promotions to The Championship.

Warne played almost 500 games as a player, with 261 in the colours of The Millers.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: “Our players were exceptional in the first leg and on another day, we get through. We have to respect Derby, but we should be excited to be at a brilliant stadium in front of a decent crowd. “

Paul Warne: “Both of us are coming into the game on good form, the last game was a tight one. It will be another tough game that we are looking forward to."

Head-to-Head

The two sides have clashed 15 times with Derby winning six times. Crewe have won five meetings and the remaining four have been draws.
