Boss: ‘I’m so proud of the group’

Lee Bell felt Crewe Alexandra were ‘good value’ for their victory over Notts County at Mornflake Stadium.

Courtney Baker-Richardson’s injury-time penalty separated the sides at the end of an enthralling encounter.

The 1-0 win lifted The Railwaymen to fourth in League Two – and dropped the Magpies from second to fifth.

Manager Bell said: “It was a really good game of football played between two really good teams.

“It was taxing on the sidelines because we were constantly making little tweaks to try to get the upper hand but I thought it was a really good win.

“I think we were good value for it. If we had been two up at half time nobody could have complained. I think Notts are a really good team with a very good manager. It was a tight game and we just edged it.

“I am really proud of the group. It is important to win at home – we were always going to lose at some point and it happened against Stockport but we want to start another unbeaten run now.”

He added: “Courtney kept his cool and it was a really good penalty. I think he feels he should be the penalty taker anyway so he practices and he put it away nicely.”
