Dicker backs boys to bounce back

11 December 2023

Ryan Dicker has backed Crewe Alexandra’s players to continue their streak of bouncing back from a defeat with victory in the next game.

Following each of the previous three losses in League One, The Railwaymen have roared back with a win.

Now - after the weekend's reverse at Grimsby - they are preparing to entertain Bristol Rovers in the Second Round of the FA Cup at Mornflake Stadium on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Assistant Manager Dicker said: “We’ve not had many bad performances this year, and when we have lost, we have bounced back quickly.

“It is important that we get that into the mindset of the players. You can learn more when you get beat so it is up to us as staff and players to analyse what went wrong and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

New Rovers boss Matt Taylor is still looking for his first win, having taken over on December 1.

They were held at home 1-1 by Cheltenham Town in League One at the weekend.

Dicker added: “They have a new Manager and therefore players who will want to impress.

“We watched their game from the weekend to find if there are differences to how they looked under the previous Manager.

“We have to focus on what we can do to hurt the opposition. They will want to progress and it’ll be a tough game because they have good players.”

Norwich City lie in wait for the winners, with the Third Road scheduled for the first weekend in January.
