  • Woodcock at the double
  • Moore makes it safe
  • Railwaymen into last eight

Max Woodcock bagged a brace as Crewe Alexandra booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Cheshire Senior Cup.

The homegrown striker scored twice in the second half and Moore made sure late on, at Barnton on Wednesday.

Now Robbie Savage's Macclesfield Town lay in wait for a last-eight tie which will take place in the new year.

Mike Jackson, Under-21s Manager, took charge of the side and named a youthful 11 that contained the likes of Tom Booth, Calum Agius, Nathan Robinson and Lewis Nolan.

Crewe started on the front foot and hit the woodwork twice in the opening 10 minutes.

First, Rhys Allport curled his effort around the keeper but was denied by the outside of the post. Then, Woodcock played a short corner to Moore who saw a powerful strike rattle the bar.

Booth was called into action a number of times but did well to preserve his clean sheet.

Soon after the restart, Zak Kempster-Down's accurate cross was met by the head of Woodcock to make it 1-0.

Woodcock doubled the lead with a super hit which found the top corner, and a number of chances to extend the lead were spurned before Agius found Moore who finished from six yards out.

Crewe: Booth, Kempster-Down, Sant (Dancey), Senior, Robinson, Nolan, Moore (Leader-Williams), Agius, Woodcock, Jatta (Parry), Allport (Perry).
