Boss: Barrow deserve high praise

21 December 2023

High-flying Barrow deserve far more praise than they are getting for their displays this season, according to Lee Bell.

The Bluebirds are second in League Two, having amassed 40 points from 21 games. With former Alex player George Ray at the heart of defence, they are unbeaten in 11 and have taken 13 points from the last 15 on offer away from home.

Manager Bell says Crewe Alexandra will have their work cut out when Pete Wild’s side visit on Friday (7.45pm).

“Barrow have done brilliantly,” he said.

“I like how they play and how they set up. They have a clear structure without the ball and they regain the ball well and try to hurt you.

“People might write them off but they have a really good manager who is doing an excellent job, probably on limited resources, and they just go about it quietly.

“Other teams get spoken about more but they deserve high praise for what they have achieved so far this season.”

A bumper gate is expected for the game after the Club slashed admission prices to £10 for adults and £5 for under 18s, while children 11 and under will enter Mornflake Stadium free (kick-off 7.45pm).
