Crewe Alexandra will mark a memorable victory at the Stadium of Light by refunding the cost of tickets for all supporters who made the long trip on Tuesday evening.

Lee Bell’s side recorded the club’s first ever victory at Sunderland in the Carabao Cup first round, thanks to a dramatic 5-3 success on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The players were roared on throughout the clash by a loyal band of fans who travelled hundreds of miles to be at the home of the Championship club.

As a token of their appreciation, Crewe Alexandra’s board of directors want to cover the match ticket cost for every Alex fan at the game.
