Assistant manager, Lee Bell, says that talks with other potential targets are progressing and that there are ‘good indications’ coming from players and agents that Crewe Alexandra may yet be their preferred destination this summer.
The club have acted quickly and decisively to add our former defender Kelvin Mellor and experienced midfielder Connor Thomas to the ranks already and although Bell admits that it is still very early stages in recruitment terms, the signs remaining promising.
Bell told the club’s official website: “We are getting good information from the recruitment team, from Glyn and Josh and John Dillon. They know their players, more so than us probably, so it is a great benefit to us to have that information coming in.
“There are some good indications from another player that could be a possibility, so hopefully we get the chance to speak to him and his agent and can show that we are an attractive proposition. Its fingers crossed on that one but things are looking positive.
“Of course, it would be brilliant to sign all the players we need by the end of the month, but we know it isn’t going to play out like that. Players are in no particular rush at the moment.
Bell added: “We would like to do our business as early as possible so that can settle in, move to the area if needs be, so we can really hit the ground running with them."
