Adebisi Set For Operation

2 March 2022

Crewe Alexandra full-back Rio Adebisi is set to undergo an operation on his foot injury that will keep him sidelined for up to four months. Adebisi, 21, has made 24 appearances this season and was closing in on his 50th career appearances in all competitions before he suffered the injury in the 2-1 win at Morecambe back in late December.

David Artell moved quickly in the January window to find a suitable replacement and signed the promising Chelsea left-back Tariq Uwakwe, only for the 22 year-old to suffer a knee injury against Oxford last month. That has left Crewe short of left sided defenders with Travis Johnson swapping sides or Dan Agyei being utilised as a left wing-back in recent games.

On a more positive note, striker Mikael Mandron is steadily making progress from his MCL knee injury and has begun running in straight lines. Mandron has not featured since suffering the injury against his former club Gillingham.
