Alex Morris is delighted to have added Charlie Colkett to his new-look midfield for the coming season and the Crewe Alexandra boss says he has been pleased to bring in four new permanent players ahead of next week’s return to full training.
Colkett, 25, has become the club’s fourth summer signing following his move from Cheltenham Town.
Alex told the club’s official website: “I am pleased to have made our fourth signing. Charlie is a good player and he fits the profile of the midfield role we want him to play. He is different to what we have and he and Conor Thomas know each other from Cheltenham and complement each other.
“We believe we have signed two good midfield players who will help us going forward.
“Charlie comes with a great pedigree, having come through a club that is renowened for developing young players and he played for England at various age groups right up until the Under-20s, so he was always a player with great potential.
“Now he would be the first to admit that he has probably not played as many games as he would have liked at 25, but that has happened for various reasons. He was Chelsea, been out on loan and had a couple of spells abroad, but I feel he will become a key player for us and will get his games here as long as he performs.”
