Adebisi Could Be Out For Weeks After Fracture Revealed In His Foot

3 January 2022

Crewe Alexandra face an anxious wait over news concerning left-back Rio Adebisi and how long the fracture in his foot may keep him out. The 21-year-old defender was forced off during the 2-1 win over Morecambe and had to be replaced by Kayne Ramsay in the wing-back role.

Adebisi could now spend weeks on the sidelines and that will be a blow as we enter the second half of the season still trying to emerge from the bottom four in League One. Adebisi has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season and has been the regular choice for the left wing-back role with the Alex operating with three centre-halves.

A ready-made replacement in Callum McFazdean is still struggling with a toe injury and is unavailable, so boss David Artell may have to continue using Callum Ainley or Scott Robertson in an unfamiliar position to them. Youngster Zac Williams could also move across if necessary.

There is brighter news on the horizon with Scott Kashket expected to return to training next week and fellow forward Chris Long back from a period of isolation on Thursday.
