Harper: "Bring On The Games"

7 February 2022

Midfielder says he has settled in quickly and cannot wait to get going.

New loan signing, Rekeem Harper, says that he has settled in really quickly at Crewe Alexandra and he is hoping to play his part in the club’s survival bid. The Ipswich Town midfielder could make his debut for the club this evening against Plymouth Argyle after his contract situation was not completed in time for him to face Gillingham last time out.

The 21-year-old, who has represented England at Youth level, is eager to get going and play his part in our quest to secure our League One status.

The former West Brom and Blackburn man told us: “I am delighted to be here and I’ve settled in really quickly. There are a few players who have come in at the same time and all the lads and staff have been welcoming.

“It would have been nice to have played at the weekend but on the other side, it has given the new players more time to adjust and get some training under our belts. I have adapted quickly and it is a great team. I’ve seen the quality here and not just saying it but we have more than enough to get out of the bottom four and move up the table but we have to show it where it matters.

“I came from Ipswich and we faced something similar when we were finding it tough to get results and the dressing room was a bit down. I’ve not really found that here but at Ipswich we picked up and it can change quickly.

“I have come here to help the team and play as many games as I can. As an individual I  want to develop as a player but I want this team to reach its goals as well. That is to stay in this league and I want to play my part.

“I can’t wait to get going now and bring on the game. If I am selected then I am looking forward to making my debut in front of the home fans and hopefully I can help the team get a result. I know my role for the team and hopefully I can have an influence on that on the pitch and inside the dressing room.

“I think that I can lead by example and bring some of my experience to the club but if I also think that if a player can benefit from some advice or a little instruction on the pitch then I can bring that as well.

Rekeem added: “The situation we find ourselves in, is down to us and what has gone on before. We have enough games left to put it right and we have to believe that we can do it. I’ve seen enough in the days that I’ve been here to know that we can do it and it is about us putting that consistent run of results together.”
