David Artell says that Crewe Alexandra will have to produce six ‘really good performances’ to stand any chance of producing a footballing miracle. A home defeat to Fleetwood leaves Crewe with a mountain to climb to escape relegation and the only thing we can truly control at this stage is our own performances and results.

Artell is looking for a real positive change when we travel to in-form MK Dons this mid-week.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “We have to try and win games of football for a whole lot of reasons, to give ourselves a chance, for the confidence, for next season. All of that.

“There are a lot of reasons but first and foremost we have to get 6 really good performances to see where that takes us.

“We know that it has not been good enough this season and it was the same on Saturday. There have been to many off days and it was the same for some of them on Saturday. We didn’t have enough of them playing well enough.

“We know we have to play well in the remaining games to stand any chance. If are only going to win games if we have enough of the team playing to our potential and that is what we need to happen.”
