Bell: "We Have To Bring That Pride Back Into The Badge"

14 April 2022

Long-serving Lee Bell on the passion and energy he will bring to his latest role within the club.

Lee Bell says he will approach his new role as interim assistant manager with the same passion, energy and pride that he has always had during his various roles at the club.

Bell, 40, came through the Academy as a young player and went on to enjoy two spells at the club and being a part of two promotion winning squads. As a youth coach within the Academy, Bell coached the Youth Team and had recently been promoted to Under-23 manager following a backroom staff reshuffle.

Bell told the club’s official website: “It is an honour to be involved at this Football Club in whatever capacity. It was a proud day to being entrusted with helping Alex (Morris) with the senior team.

“I will approach it like I’ve always done here, with that passion and energy. I am excited by the job and I know that we will give it a right good go. I know that the staff here will put a great shift in to try and turn things around as quickly as we can.

“It is a fresh start for everyone and we have to bring that pride back into the badge. The fans want to see that pride and passion back. I am not saying it wasn’t there before, far from it, but we want to really see it in this remaining four games and into next season.

Lee added: “It is our aim to bring that back and make it more evident and bring that joy back for the players because they are going to be down after what has happened this season and suffering relegation. I have been through it and it is a horrible feeling but we want to provide that lift and take us in a different direction.”
