Gaffer on the match winning attributes of on-loan Spurs starlet J'Neil Bennett

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will continue to encourage loan signing J’Neil Bennett to be excite the Alex supporters and become even more effective in the final third.

The on-loan Spurs youngster opened his account with an 87th minute goal against Burton Albion to seal a 2-0 win and a first league success of the new season. The 19-year-old also created the opening goal when his centre was deflected past his own goalkeeper by Michael Bostwick.

Artell said of the creative winger: “J’Neil is an exciting player and we want him to carry on being like that. He scored one and half goals and was the match winner for us on Saturday.

“He was up against a good and experienced player in John Brayford and gave him a tough afternoon.

“He needs be like that on a consistent basis and he knows the role he has in the team, to create and score goals.

“We had him up in the summer and he scored a fantastic goal against Wolves Under-23s in pre-season. We had Ben Knight coming in and thought about getting someone else with a bit more experience at the time, but we still would have signed J’Neil because we knew he was another exciting young player.

The boss added: “He wants to come here and do well and has a great character about him. We are glad he chose us and that we were able to bring him in.”
