Knight Steps Up Return To Full Fitness

22 October 2021

On-loan Manchester City winger Ben Knight is expected to be ‘back on the grass’ next week as he focuses on a return to full training. The 19-year-old, who scored the winner with his first senior goal against Shrewsbury Town in the Papa John’s Trophy has missed the club’s last nine games after suffering an ankle injury.

He initially suffered the injury against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup tie but still managed to come off the bench to hit the winner at the New Meadow on deadline day.

Knight, who featured for City as a substitute in the Community Shield game at Wembley, has made six appearances for the Railwaymen this season.

Meanwhile midfielder, Callum Ainley, is still ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Ben should be back out on the grass and running next week. He is not too far off now and it will be good to have him back with is.

“Callum is a bit further away than that but he too is making good progress.”
