International Breaks Have Helped Us This Season

15 October 2021

Crewe Alexandra manager, David Artell, has told the club’s official website that the International breaks this season have been useful as he and his staff aim to get more coaching into the players.

Last weekend’s fixture against Doncaster Rovers was postponed due to International call-ups and Artell used the time to work on formations and systems with his newly formed squad of players.

He told us: “We want to play games. That is what you work towards but I am not going to lie, the International breaks have come at a good time this season. They have been important to us because it has given us the time to put some of the coaching into the players.

“That is extremely difficult with Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday games. When it is like that the players need to get their rest in and it gives you time for game preparation and not much else.

“It has been good to be out there working with the players. They are taking things on board and they are a good group to work with. The performances are improving and when that is happening and the players are working as hard as they are, then that is all you can ask as a manager.

He added: “Yes, we could do with winning a few more games but the group is getting better week on week and we are all looking forward to Saturday.”
