Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says there were pleasing aspects to our first half performance against Cambridge United at the weekend, but he was left incredibly frustrated by the two goals we conceded to surrender our first half advantage.
Crewe had looked in firm control thanks to goals from Oli Finney and Scott Robertson only to see that lead disappear in the final ten minutes.
Artell told the club’s official website: “I think we are on the right track from where we have come from but we know we have to be far better.
“There were really pleasing points to take from the way we played in the first half. We wouldn’t have scored that second goal six weeks ago. It was a really good goal and we were really good in that first half. I thought we controlled it and were worth the two goals.
“There were some real signs of improvement but we cannot have too many repeats of the second half. We didn’t get going again and we conceded two late goals. Defensively is another area of the pitch where we can improve because the goals we conceded were poor ones from our point of view.
He added: “We need to improve in all areas and we will work as hard as we always do on making sure we do.”
