Artell: "We Have Been Talking About Kick-Starting Our Season For While Now We Have To Start Doing It"

Boss says we need to develop that winning habit and quickly.

David Artell is hoping that the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers can swing us back into the habit of winning games rather than losing them. Not for the first time this season, the Crewe Alexandra boss is hoping that an improved  result and performance can kick-start our season.

Although we have struggled for results this season, a 1-0 win over Shrewsbury in the Papa John’s Trophy back in late August did produce a change of results in a sequence of eight games. Crewe’s only defeat came at home to Morecambe during that encouraging spell, that was ended by a disappointing 3-0 away defeat to Fleetwood.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “Winning games can become a habit and that is what we need it to be. One result can change things and things can change quickly. Hopefully, the players got the positives out of Tuesday’s performance and take that on.

“You have to put it into perspective as well. It was a young Wolves side and we had four debutants ourselves but you could see that the shackles were off a bit on Tuesday because it was a cup game and we were already through. The belief that we were going to win the game was there very early in the game and it showed in the performance.

The boss added: “We have been talking about a result kick-starting our season for a while, but talk is cheap and it is about producing it. If we can go away to Bolton and put on a performance and get a result, that will only give them even more belief.”
