Pickering Has Been An Absolute Credit

Boss hails his captain as he gets set for his final game for the club

Harry Pickering’s Crewe Alexandra’s career will climax against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday after potentially 168 appearances and 10 goals.

The 22-year-old is set to lead the side out for the final team at the Alexandra Stadium before joining up with Championship side Blackburn Rovers this summer.

Pickering signed for Rovers in January, but returned to Crewe on loan to complete the season with us.

David Artell has hailed praise on his consistent full-back and captain.

Ahead of Pixie’s final game for the club, Artell said: “The greatest compliment I can pay Harry is not only he is a very good footballer, but his character and temperament is second to none.

“He is a great lad and comes from a really good family. The apple didn’t have to fall too far with him. He epitomises what a professional footballer should be with a capital P. He has many great qualities and I have never had to question whether his heart was in it after signing for Blackburn and getting his move.

He added: “He is a real good player and will only get better. He will improve and Blackburn have got themselves a great asset. He is a credit to himself and his family and there will be more to come from him I am sure.”
