"Nothing But Affection For Blackpool But We Have A Job To Do"

2 March 2021

Recently recalled right-back hoping to get the nod to face his former club at Bloomfield Road this evening.

Former Seasider, Donervon Daniels, says he has nothing but affection for Blackpool after previously having two spells at the club. The 27-year-old first taste of life at Bloomfield Road saw him make 19 appearances for the club whilst on loan from West Bromwich Albion. The defender scored his only goal for the club in a 4-2 defeat by Huddersfield Town in October 2014.

Daniels later returned to Blackpool on a permanent basis in 2018 after leaving the Baggies. He spent a year in League One, making 30 appearances before moving to Luton Town in September 2019.

Ahead of a possible return to his former club, the Montserrat-born defender said: “I really loved it at Blackpool. I have had two spells there and I really enjoyed it. They are a big club for this league and now have relatively new owners a new manager, so I’m sure they are heading in the right direction again.

“I have a lot of affection for the club (Blackpool) but I am at Crewe now and we have a job to do. The lads want to go there and show how good we are. We will got there and give it a good go.

He added: “We can mix things up. We like to play on the floor, everyone knows that but we can also go more direct if needs be, especially if Ports and Mikael are up there. We have different ways of playing and I think that it is good because we can change things and ask more of the opposition.”
