Boss: "We Will Give Ashton & His Family All The Support We Can"

22 March 2021

Alex boss says club will give young Ashton all the support, love and attention he needs...

David Artell says that everyone at Crewe Alexandra will do all they can to help our Academy youngster, Ashton Hulme adjust after receiving such heart breaking news last week.

The popular goalkeeper aged just 12, has been informed that he will need to have an amputation below the knee to rid him of the evils of cancer and everyone is absolutely devastated for him and his family.

The Alex players wanted to show their support by wearing warm-up t-shirts at Northampton on Saturday bearing his name. They also donated the squad pool of fine money to Ashton and Artell announced that there will be many other fund raising opportunities to help in any way we can.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We found out last week that it was the worst possible news and that young Ashton would need the amputation. We are all devastated for him and his family.

“I said on Saturday after the game at Northampton that the club will do all we can to help him. The coaching staff are running and riding 53k to take in the three local grounds and we have already discussed what we can do for him during pre-season and going forward.

“The players wore the t-shirts on Saturday because they all wanted to show their support after hearing the terrible news.

“We are all going to give him all the support, love and attention he needs and give him and his family all the support in any way we can.”

If you would like to make a donation to the JustGiving fund raising page then you can here.

All our thanks to all those who already have and for all the kind messages for Ashton and his family.
