Free mid-week will allow some reflection work to aid improvement
David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he will use this free week to remind the players about what is expected to make sure we don’t concede goals so easily. At the weekend, Crewe conceded two goals in five first half minutes against Peterborough United and never recovered.
The Alex boss told us this morning: “It was a bit of a relaxed one yesterday with the Under-23s also playing but it is a full on work day today.
“We have these two weeks without a mid-week game so we will have some time to put some work into them and that’s all of them, not just the new loan players.
“We will also give them some reminders after Saturday. We won’t be throwing the baby toys out of the pram, but we will go over things and remind them about the dos and don’ts because we felt Peterborough scored too easily against us.
“We were good for the opening 25, 30 minutes but then they have scored two goals in five minutes and we never recovered. The players know that they have to improve on that and what is needed.
“They know they have to be better than they were on Saturday and we have some work to get through.”
