David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side will be aiming to build on the mid-week victory over Accrington Stanley with another positive result against Sunderland this weekend. The Alex deservedly ran out 2-0 winners on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Omar Beckles and Chris Porter.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We deserved to win at Swindon but we didn’t so we were not a million miles away. When you lose a game like that it is damaging but responded on Tuesday night against a good Accrington team.

“I said after the game that we thoroughly deserved to win the game and we played well. The performance matched the result when at Swindon it didn’t.

“Now we have produce more of the same against Sunderland and try and get a result. It is a good game on paper and we have all to play for against one of the promotion favourites.

“I think there are a lot of clubs still involved. We have been saying all along that it is a tight division. There are three or four really good teams and I include Sunderland in that but anyone can beat anyone.

He added: “Then there are 15 or so, who have something to play for. Some will be looking up and others down.”
