Crewe To Assess Injuries To Beckles & Mandron Ahead Of Accrington Test

23 November 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell will assess the injuries to Mikael Mandron and Omar Beckles ahead of our mid-week fixture at Accrington Stanley. Mandron missed Saturday’s defeat at Portsmouth after complaining of a tight hamstring. The French striker travelled south but wasn’t risked at Fratton Park. Offrande Zanzala replaced him in our 4-1 defeat.

Centre-half Beckles was forced off at half-time after suffering a calf injury and had to be replaced by Olly Lancashire.

Artell explained to the club’s official website: “We will assess how they are. I genuinely don’t know how they are but will have more of an idea after we go out today.

“Mikael travelled with us but had been suffering with some cramp in his hamstring. We weren’t sure if it was cramp or he had tweaked it. He was close.

“We thought we had a lot of games coming up in a short space of time, so we didn’t risk him. It was precautionary, as we didn’t want to lose him for more than is necessary.

“Omar had a calf injury and we couldn’t really say see how you go second half. We don’t have that luxury, so again it was precautionary. With 29 players, we have to be a bit careful and we were with both of them.”
