An Open Letter From The Chairman To Season Ticket Holders

19 June 2020

Dear Season Ticket Holder

I’d like to thank all of our supporters for their messages of support during what has been a strange few months for everybody. It really is a challenging time for both football and the wider society.

I don’t think anybody could’ve envisaged our season ending in the manner that it has, but I really do think that Dave, his staff and the players deserve their promotion to League One.

From the start of the season it was clear that we had a very special group representing Crewe Alexandra and they really do deserve their success.

We are still exploring all the ways that the players will be able to celebrate this success and we want our fans to play their part in this, even if they are not there in person.

But the football world never stops and already we are having conversations about next season and what the landscape may look like.

With so many uncertainties around at the minute there will be some challenging times ahead, but I think a lot of clubs will be looking over at Crewe Alexandra in an envious way.

That doesn’t mean to say we haven’t been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, but we have a lot of good people at the Football Club who are working hard to make sure we come through this problem together and I include the supporters in that.

A number of supporters have already been in touch to say that they will be declining a pro-rata refund for games that did not place in the 2019/20 season.

This is an incredibly generous act, which goes a long way to helping keep the club sustainable during the enforced break from football.

Individually a refund may not seem a great deal for the Football Club, but collectively refunding all supporters for games missed would present a significant financial challenge for Crewe Alexandra.

Season tickets are sold on a non-refundable basis, but the Football Club does recognise that the coronavirus pandemic may have presented challenges for some supporters.

Therefore any supporter who is need of a pro-rata refund for games missed is able to ask for one by visiting the Football Club from July 2nd.

The 2019/20 season have been one that will live long in the memory and I’m sure that like me, the last few months has made you realise how much you appreciate football and Crewe Alexandra.

Once again on behalf of all my fellow Directors thank you for your support and I hope to see you back at Gresty Road soon when we start the exciting challenges ahead in League One!

Kind Regards

John Bowler

Chairman
