Olly: "A Real Pleasure To Play In This Team At The Moment"

17 December 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell described his two centre-halves against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening as the ‘best two players on the pitch’. Omar Beckles and Olly Lancashire were immense in the club’s deserved 2-1 win and although he was disappointed to lose that clean-sheet with a sloppy goal late on, the recalled Lancashire believes that the team reacted well to those anxious last few minutes.

Lancashire has regained his place in the starting XI following Perry Ng’s six match suspension and with Luke Offord switching over to right-back to replace his captain, the former Southampton trainee has certainly grabbed his chance with both hands when partnering Omar Beckles.

Olly told iFollow the Alex: “I thought it was another good game on Tuesday. We did really well in the first half and perhaps we should have been more than 2-0 up. Plymouth changed their shape at half-time and it became a tougher game but we still created some really good chances in the second half as well.

“They scored with 10 minutes to go and it made it a bit nervy but the lads reacted really well. I thought we kept calm and saw the game out and it is three points again.

“It is a pleasure to play in this team at the moment. They have been together for a long time, some of them and you can see that. We have been successful over the last the last year, 18 months and hopefully the younger ones can go and realise their full potential individually, but more importantly as a team. If they can then something special could happen.

“It is a pleasure to come in and train with these lads because not only are they great footballers, they are also great lads. It is nice to be one of the more senior lads, guiding them through and there are a lot of lads here with big potential.”
