Boss: "We Kept Our Discipline & That Helped Us Get A Point"

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell was delighted with his side’s discipline in the second half against Fleetwood Town on Boxing Day.

The Alex had three players’ booked in the first half and had to remain composed in a tetchy affair at the Alexandra Stadium.

Artell told the club’s official website: “The first thing I spoke to the players about at half-time was keeping our discipline. They did that very well and in the second half, it should have been one of their players sent-off for what I can only describe as a kung-fu challenge on Ryan Wintle.

“It was a really disciplined performance from us and our temperament was good under some provocation.

“Fleetwood didn’t do anything wrong in that respect. That is in their DNA and they see that as another way to win and they believe in that. There is nothing wrong in that and we had to cope. I think we handled it well because Fleetwood try to frustrate you and make things difficult.

"Like I've said, there is nothing wrong in that and it is just as different type of test.

“That was a real positive to come out of the performance. We kept our discipline and that went a long way for us to get a point.”
