Boss:"Squad Rotation Has To Be Considered"

22 November 2019

Boss says you have to plan ahead with fixtures coming thick and fast

David Artell says that he could use squad rotation to cope with three upcoming games in eight days. Crewe start another busy cluster of games at home to Morecambe tomorrow before travelling to promotion rivals Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening. The trio of intriguing fixtures then sees us take on Eastleigh in the 2nd round of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

David also has to factor in our Under-23 fixture against Burnley on Monday afternoon in his preparations.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “Rotation will come into it. We have picked an Under-23 team for Monday and that isn’t set in stone because that could change yet. We have to factor a lot of things into it.

“We have the game tomorrow, the 23s at Burnley on Monday and then Forest Green on Tuesday. We will have to look at how they are.

“The Eastleigh game does not come into it yet.

“That is how we have to work. It is almost a weekly thing we do and that allows Lee Bell to pick his Under-18s for the weekend and Ryan Dicker for the 16s. That is how it works and its fine.”
