"It Was A Terrific Clean-Sheet & We Will Take The Point"

27 November 2019

David Artell hailed last night’s goalless draw as a terrific clean-sheet after a master class in defending away from home at 2nd placed Forest Green Rovers.

Crewe conjured up the best two chances on the night too with Chris Porter chipping just wide of an empty net and the experienced striker also getting a slight but decisive touch on a powerful drive from Ryan Wintle that smacked the inside of the post in the second half.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “It was a terrific clean-sheet. To go to the team that are second in the league with the home record they have and restricted them to one and half chances over 90 minutes was very pleasing.

“We defended really well as a team and if there was one team who was going on to win the game it was us. We created some good chances and to restrict them to nothing really, I was really pleased with the performance against a good team.

“I will take the point and it is a good point and if we can perform like that again at Eastleigh then we have a good chance of making progress in the FA Cup.”
