Crewe Alexandra have the opportunity of recording our fifth straight win for the first time in 25 years if we can overcome Michael Jolley’s Grimsby Town side on the final day of the season.
Since losing 1-0 in the local derby at Port Vale at the beginning of April, Crewe Alexandra have responded fantastically well and are now looking to make it five wins on the spin at Blundell Park.
Ahead of the final game of the season, the Crewe boss told us: “It would be a great achievement to win five games on the spin, but the three points should be motivation enough.
“There is nothing riding on the game for either side but we want to finish in the top ten if we can and Grimsby will be wanting to reach as many points as they can.
“We are all professional and to me, it doesn’t matter if it is the first game of the season, the 20th game, the 36th game or the final game. We want to win the game and two things I won’t tolerate is whacking the ball and not running around.
“If they don’t perform then they can expect not to be on the pitch when we start again next season.”
