Richards' Shoulder Operation A Success

29 March 2019

Reserve goalkeeper Dave Richards has undergone a successful operation on his shoulder and he is now enjoying a period of recuperation. The former Bristol City and Cardiff City stopper has been ruled out for the season and the club recalled Will Jaaskelainen from his loan spell at Nantwich Town in order for him to deputise for number one Ben Garratt.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell told the club’s official website: “Trig (Dave Richards) underwent surgery on his shoulder on Wednesday and it was a success. He is locked in one position at the moment, so he will have some time off with his family but then we will be back in to work on regaining the strength.

“His tear was bigger than the consultant first thought but the operation has gone well, he is fine and Trig is a good pro, so he will put the work in to get back.”
