Lowery Given All Clear After Warm Up Withdrawal

22 March 2019

Midfielder Tom Lowery has been given the all-clear after he was forced to miss last weekend’s 6-1 win over Crawley Town due to a foot injury. Lowery was a late withdrawal from the eighteen man squad after aggravating the injury during last Saturday’s warm up. He was replaced on the bench by spare man Alex Nicholls.

Lowery had rolled his ankle and had was struggling with soreness on the base of his foot.

Crewe Alexandra boss, David Artell told crewealex.net: “Tom rolled his ankle and had been struggling with his fat pad on the base on the heal of his foot. He damaged that but we wanted to see if it was okay in the possession part of the warm up. It wasn’t so I made the late change.

“I gave him five minutes before I had to register the change on the team-sheet. We contemplated an injection but the doctor advised that it would probably only make the injury worse if he had got on the pitch. I agreed with that and didn’t take the risk.

“As it panned out we didn’t miss him but he has been doing well of late and he is now fine.”
